The melee in USG is based on a simple principle: it takes effort to dodge and defend melee hits. The more tired you are, the more you get hit. Combined with the low noise, it gives hand to hand combat a true value in a zombie apocalypse setting. But we felt melee was still undervalued when compared to the appeal of ranged weapons. So we gave melee weapons special attacks, based on their class, for spectacular results. Also, as a unique marriage between melee and ranged, if you run out of bullets in USG, you can always use your weapon buttstock to smash in some skulls.
